LUE Summer School Outcomes

What happened?
Successful first Summer School at LUE
Thanks to the Baden-Württemberg-Stiftung we were able to host our very first project-related International Summer School at the Ludwigsburg University of Education. We had the pleasure of welcoming partners from four of our partner universities. Adriana L. Medina from UNC Charlotte (USA), S. Nombuso Dlamini from York University Toronto (Canada), Petter Øyan from OsloMet Oslo (Norway) and Mirona Stănescu and Daniel Andronache representing Babeș-Bolyai-University Cluj (Romania) including 8 of their students traveled the (sometimes very long) journey to participate in a productive and constructive exchange. The event was also open to (international) students from PHL, and we were thrilled by the active participation and interest in the topic and the opportunity for further internationalization.
Welcome!

Our Monday started with a get together and getting to know each other. In alignment with our theme, the focus was on socio-spatial exploration in the park and the exchange around it.
Exploring Community
Bridging Higher Educations and Community
On Tuesday, all participants were divided into four groups for a “Community Rally.” The goal was to get to know four institutions and contact points in the vicinity of LUE and to explore what a reciprocal partnership with each institution could look like, as well as how a sustainable bridging could be shaped in the future. Until the outreach for networking related to the Summer School, the contact points had not previously been in touch with the PH. Therefore, the Summer School also served as a key opportunity for networking and critical reflection.
Perspectives
In the numerous multi-perspective presentations and panel discussions, observable themes were brought forth. The next goal of the project is to develop an international and networked module that enables teacher education students to become aware of the many areas of community engagement and to sharpen their socio-spatial and life-world-oriented perspective.
